Up to 8,152 people and 31 counted observers were deployed on Friday. The entire counting process will be recorded and monitored through CCTV cameras at each table.

The Telangana State Electoral Commission decided to opt for ballot papers after speaking with major political parties and the health department about the safety of voters and election officials.

Counting centers have been set up in 30 places and 8,152 officials will participate in the process, which will be recorded on closed-circuit television cameras.

The counting of votes for the 2020 elections of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will begin at 8 a.m. today (Friday, December 4).

The results are also expected to be declared today.

Voting for the 150-district GHMC took place on Tuesday (December 1).

A total of 1,122 candidates are in the fray. The main contest in the poll is between the ruling TRS, the BJP Opposition and Congress. The other parties fighting for seats include AIMIM, TRS, TDP, CPI, CPM, YSRCP.

Despite the high-octane campaign, the election saw low voter turnout. Only 35.80 percent of the 74,44,260 voters showed up to exercise their right to vote.

The latest civic polls saw TRS led by K Chandrashekhar Rao emerge victorious in 99 districts, while Asaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM secured victories in 44 seats.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was only able to secure four seats, Congress won two seats, and the TDP won one.

This election is of utmost importance, as it will set the stage for the 2023 Assembly elections.

The BJP, recognizing this fact, sent big names, including Union Interior Minister Amit Shah, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and Union Minister Smriti Irani, to campaign for the votes.

Shah, ensuring the development of the city if the BJP is voted, promised to free Greater Hyderabad from the “Nizam culture”.

The TRS campaign was led by the party chairman and the state Minister for Municipal Administration, KT Rama Rao, while the party chairman and the chief minister, KCR, addressed a public meeting of the campaign.

Before the count, KCR radiated confidence in his match’s chances. He also warned the TRS GHMC election manager to be vigilant during the vote count.

KCR said it has received input from different sources saying that TRS will win more than 80 seats and thus emerge as the largest party.
