LIVE MARKET: Indices lower earnings, Sensex exceeds 44k; HDFC, SBI top drags

Indian markets trimmed all gains and were unchanged in early trading Monday, largely dragged down by finance.

Among the major indices, the S&P BSE Sensex hovered around 43,880 levels. The index had risen to 44,271, earlier in the day. The Nifty50 index also lost 12,950. Reliance Industries gained more than 3 percent in trade deals after India’s Competition Commission approved RIL’s offer to buy Future Group’s retail, wholesale and logistics assets amid a legal battle with Amazon. Additionally, Bajaj Finserv and IndusInd Bank were up 3 percent each and were among Sensex’s top winners.

All Nifty sectoral indices were trading green, led by the Nifty Metal index, up 1 percent,

In the broader markets, the S&P BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices were trading 0.7% higher each.
