Sumit Ghosh, CEO and co-founder of Chingari, said the ban is “a very smart move and sends a clear message that Chinese apps cannot use such tactics to engage in activities that are detrimental to the sovereignty of India.”
Aditya Narang, co-founder and CEO of cybersecurity firm SafeHouse Technologies, said the biggest security concern is that many apps on their smartphones collect massive amounts of data that have nothing to do with the service they provide. “You need various intrusive and security-sensitive permissions that the user doesn’t understand but ends up accepting. As the threat to the security of user data increases, users must ensure that their mobile phones are protected, safe and encrypted. “
Varun Saxena, founder and CEO of Bolo Indya, called the move “another welcome move by the government to oppose Chinese apps that have always had serious privacy issues.”
