Jorge Messi is reportedly meeting with Barcelona on Wednesday to discuss his son’s future at the club.
However, it is unclear if the two sides are going to make much progress given that neither seems willing to compromise at this point.
According to ESPN and Mundo Deportivo, Messi Sr. will make it clear that his son no longer wants to play for Barcelona, he wants to leave for free but wants to achieve a friendly exit.
The president of Barcelona, Josep Maria Bartomeu, will insist that it is not for sale, is still under contract and will cost 700 million euros if he leaves.
Reports also estimate that Bartomeu will also offer a contract extension at the meeting, which is unlikely to go well in the current climate.
At the moment it is impossible to predict what the outcome of the match will be and whether any progress can be made between the two sides.
However, it will take some form of compromise to prevent this saga from getting uglier and ending up in court.
