Jailed RJD President Lalu Prasad was transferred from the Ranchi hospital director’s bungalow to his pay room on Thursday following his alleged phone call to a Bihar BJP MLA seeking his help in defeating the NDA candidate for the seat of assembly president, an official said.
Prasad, the former chief minister of Bihar who was convicted in forage scam cases, was receiving treatment at the Rajendra Institute for Medical Sciences (RIMS) for multiple ailments.
“Lalu Prasad Yadav was moved from the director’s bungalow to room number A-11 of the payment pavilion today,” Dr. Waghmare Krishna Prasad, RIMS Additional Director and Jharkhand Joint Health Secretary, told PTI.
Prasad was transferred from the RIMS pay room to its director’s residence in August to protect him from exposure to the coronavirus.
The Jharkhand government on Wednesday ordered an investigation into Prasad that allegedly telephoned Bihar BJP MLA Lalan Kumar Paswan, asking him to abstain from voting during Tuesday’s presidential election.
