Sonu Sood’s heroic acts of charity throughout the coronavirus pandemic, helping migrant workers to return to their places of origin, have now inspired an installation in a Durga Puja pandal in Kolkata. A life-size statue of the actor has been erected at the Keshtopur Prafulla Kanan Durga Puja in Kolkata.
Artists have recreated the Bollywood actor’s philanthropy during the migrant worker crisis due to the coronavirus-induced lockdown. The installation shows their selfless act of helping migrant workers return home during the lockdown. Their idol has been displayed alongside a bus transporting migrant workers home.
The gesture is already a hit with Sonu Sood fans.
The actor was on the ground helping people reach their destinations from Mumbai during the closing. Sonu had organized buses, trains and flights for migrant workers from around the country to help them get home.
Several other poignant moments from the migration crisis were also featured in the pandal. He had an idol of a boy sleeping in a suitcase as his mother dragged him down the road and another of the woman riding a bicycle, with his injured father in the back seat, to complete a 1,200 km journey from Gurugram in Haryana to Bihar’s .
