When farmers protesting on Saturday made it clear that there will be no changes to their protest schedule, including the proposed Bharat Bandh on December 8, the Union agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar urged farmers to leave the road. from the turmoil and take the path of discussion. The next round of discussion is scheduled for December 9 after the Center sends a new draft to farmers’ organizations.

“I would not like to comment on the union program. But I would like to urge farmers and unions to leave the path of agitation and move onto the path of discussion. The government has had several rounds of talks with them and is ready to continue discussing a solution, ”said the minister.

Although talks continue, the restless farmers have not softened their ground. They have maintained that the protest will never turn violent, but will continue unless the Center complies with their demands. On Friday, the unions announced a Bharat Bandh for December 8 and threatened to block more roads leading to Delhi. All toll plazas will be occupied that day, the unions have announced.

As farmers have occupied the borders of Delhi, traffic in and around the city has been affected.

Closed borders

Borders of Singhu, Lampur, Auchandi, Safiabad, Piao Maniyari and Saboli. National Highway 44 is closed on both sides.

The Tikri and Jharoda borders are closed to traffic. The Badusarai border is open only for light motor vehicles such as cars and two-wheelers. The Jhatikara border is open for two-wheelers only.

The Chilla border on the Noida link highway and the Ghazipur border on National Highway 24 are also closed.

Dhansa, Daurala, Kapashera, Rajokri National Highway-8, Bijwasan / Bajghera, Palam Vihar, and Dundahera Borders.
