The trailer for Laxmmi Bomb, starring Akshay Kumar, is out, and it’s a huge throwback to Priyadarshan’s Bhool Bhulaiya, at least in terms of the treatment. Alongside Akshay, the film also stars Kiara Advani, Tusshar Kapoor, Sharad Kelkar, Tarun Arora, and Ashwini Kalsekar. Laxmmi Bomb is the remake of the 2011 Tamil film Muni 2: Kanchana directed by Raghava Lawrence, who also directs the Hindi version.

Check out the trailer for Laxmmi Bomb here:

The trailer shows Akshay Kumar’s character possessed by the spirit of a woman, and then he begins to act like one as his body is under his control. While the movie tries to set the mood for a horror comedy, it reminds us of the old Hindi movies where the transgender community was represented in a pretty stereotypical way. It remains to be seen if Laxmmi Bomb will avoid those cliches and tell a story that is sensitive to all genres involved.

Towards the end of the trailer, Akshay also channels the classic Ashutosh Rana scream from Sangharsh that still sends shivers down our spines.

In the trailer, it’s pretty apparent Laxmmi Bomb is trying to balance the story with some situational comedies and songs.

The film opens on Disney + Hotstar on November 9.
