Copy of Bill not distributed, says Siddaramaiah
Karnataka’s former chief minister and leader of the opposition, Siddaramaiah, had previously said that the bill was introduced without any discussion. “Today, to our surprise, the minister of animal husbandry read a statement that he is introducing a bill for the prevention and protection of animals. This was not discussed at all. It was a surprise to all of us, ”he said.
It further added that a copy of the bill was not distributed to members of the Chamber. “Whenever a bill is presented, copies of the bill must be distributed to all members. But even the (animal husbandry) minister didn’t have a copy of the bill with him, ”he said.
Siddaramaiah further added that the government’s move was a violation of privileges. “The sanctity of the House is gone, the sanctity of the Spokesman’s office is gone. The government is disrespectful to the BAC office (business advisory committee). We are seriously considering whether we should attend BAC or not, ”he added.
