In an interactive session at the FICCI annual general meeting, S Jaishankar also said that what happened in eastern Ladakh was not really of interest to China as it has had a significant impact on public sentiment in India.
Calling the “events” along the Royal Line of Control (ALC) as very worrying, the foreign minister said they have raised some “basic concerns.”
When asked if it will be long-term or if a breakthrough is expected soon, S Jaishankar said: “I would not go into the prediction zone at all whether it will be easy or not, and what will be the timelines, etc.”
“I also think that what has actually happened is not in China’s interest. Because what it has done is: it has had a significant impact on public sentiment (in India). S Jaishankar said that a lot of work had been done to develop the relationship of both parties.

The armies of India and China have been locked in a tense border clash in eastern Ladakh since early May. Both sides have held multiple rounds of military and diplomatic talks. However, no progress has yet been made.
