NEW DELHI: BJP has said that there is no “contradiction” between its attack on Congress for being part of the “anti-national” Gupkar Alliance while leading the Ladakh Autonomous Development Council Kargil (LAHDCK) in alliance with the National Conference (NC) since the latter’s unit in Ladakh had accepted the annulment of Article 370. Indeed, BJP members said, Ladakh’s political electors celebrated the removal of Article 370. as they were demanding independent powers from the valley.
BJP said NC’s acceptance of the legislative changes in Ladakh strengthened its position on the issue and it hoped the party would accept it even at J&K.
“It is up to NC to discover the contradiction,” said a senior BJP official.
“Article 370 is not a problem in Ladakh and Kargil. In fact, the parties in this region have welcomed the reorganization, which has given more political power to the people of Ladakh and Kargil, ”he added, noting that the event was celebrated as Independence Day.
