KTR admonishes Owaisi for insulting PV, NTR

Hyderabad: TRS Acting Chairman KT Rama Rao condemned AIMIM Assembly Leader Akbaruddin Owaisi’s controversial comments against the late former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao and the late former Andhra Pradesh Prime Minister NT Rama Rao.

He said that disparaging statements against such stalwarts were deplorable and have no place in a democracy.

Akbaruddin Owaisi, during his election campaign, described the memorials of PV Narasimha Rao (Gnana Bhoomi) and NT Rama Rao (NTR Ghat) built along the collar road bordering Hussain Sagar Lake as “illegal structures” and demanded its removal. Owaisi alleged that Hussain Sagar Lake had been reduced from the original 4,700 acres to just 700 acres due to “such invasions.”

He made the remarks in the wake of the TRS government’s decision to demolish the illegal constructions and remove the invasion of tanks and nalas throughout Hyderabad, including the Old City.

Akbaruddin Owaisi is known for making such ruthless and provocative comments to the community, including against Hindu gods, and for asking the police to stand down for 15 minutes. He is currently out on bail and the cases continue.

In response to Akbaruddin’s comments, Rama Rao tweeted that both PV Narasimha Rao and NT Rama Rao were an icon of pride for the Telugu people, who had served as Prime Minister and Prime Minister of ancient Andhra Pradesh respectively for a long period.

Rao said: “We strongly condemn these comments. Any derogatory statement to disparage the contribution of these two Telugu stalwarts is deplorable and has no place in a democracy. “
