New Delhi: MK Alagiri’s loyal KP Ramalingam joined the BJP before Interior Minister Amit Shah in Chennai. Ramalingam has said that he had previously informed Alagiri of the plan and decision to join the saffron party.
“I have close relations with MK Alagiri. I will try to bring him to the Bharatiya Janta Party, Ramalingam said.
Ramalingam had previously met with BJP leader CT Ravi, and had also made time for Amit Shah in Chennai.

Speaking to Times Now, Ramalingam said that he decided to leave DMK as he does not possess the heart to accept anyone as the head of the party after Kalaignar Karunanidhi.
“I took an 8-month break and then took this step. I feel like my political path is starting right now with this party. I have learned from MGR for 15 years and from Kalaingar for 30 years. I am happy to be with a party that has strong leaders who will secure the nation and ensure economic growth, “he said.
Ramalingam was evicted from DMK for anti-party activities and joined the BJP in the presence of CT Ravi, head of the Tamilnadu BJP.
He is the third DMK leader to join BJP in 2020.
‘I had informed Alagiri about my decision to join BJP’
Formerly former DMK leader VP Duraisamy and rebel MLA Ku. Ka. Selvam had also joined BJP.
There is much speculation that Alagiri will form a political team and could join the BJP before the 2021 Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu.
Before the meeting with Amit Shah, TN BJP boss Murugan told Times Now that there is no confirmation as to whether there will be a meeting between superstar Rajinikanth and Amit Shah.
Furthermore, he reiterated that he will wholeheartedly welcome MK Alagiri if he joins the BJP.
The Minister of the Interior will address the officials and the central committee of the state unit, in addition to some official commitments.
