CALCUTTA: Union Minister of Railways Piyush Goyal Saturday praised Kolkata Metro for starting additional services and extending the hours of their services as of Monday, December 7.
“Kolkatans can rejoice from December 7, the subway will increase services to 204 from Monday to Saturday. To further enhance passenger comfort, there will also be an extension of schedules and easier trips with services available every 7 minutes during peak hours. ” Piyush Goyal mentioned in a tweet.
The Kolkata metro will offer 204 daily services instead of 190 services from Monday to Saturday from December 7. The first service will start at both ends, that is, from Dum Dum and Kavi Subhash at 7 a.m. instead of 8 a.m., and from Noapara at 7.09 a.m. instead of 8.09 a.m., an official statement from the Ministry of Railways.
Starting Monday, the last service will depart from Kavi Subhash and Dum Dum at 9.30pm instead of 9pm, and from Noapara at 9.25pm instead of 8.55pm, it will be available every 7 minutes during peak hours of morning and afternoon, the informed statement.
“In view of containing the spread of Covid-19, no token will be issued, only a smart card will be used. However, for the elderly, women and children (under 15 years old), a pass will not be required electronic throughout the day … For all other passengers, no e-pass will be required between 7 am and 8:30 am and 8 pm onwards, “he added.
