With the lockdown in West Bengal extended until September 20, Kolkata airport has allowed inbound flights from six cities on a limited basis.

It has also announced that no flight operations will be allowed on September 7, 11 and 12, when the state will observe the complete lockdown as per state government directives.

“Flights from six cities, namely Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Pune and Nagpur, will be allowed on a limited basis starting in September. They will be allowed on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays during the first and second week of September.” Calcutta airport said. it said in a statement.

Noting that flights from the aforementioned cities will be allowed during the third and fourth week of next month, he added: “Flights will be allowed from six cities, namely Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Pune and Nagpur in Kolkata on Mondays, Wednesdays. and Friday during the 3rd and 4th week of September Passengers are kindly requested to check the schedule with the corresponding airline.

“The complete lockdown will be observed in West Bengal on September 7, September 11 and September 12, 2020. According to the directives of the state government, no flight operations will be scheduled in these days from Kolkata airport,” he added .

Earlier on Wednesday, the state’s chief minister, Mamata Banerjee, announced the extension of the lockdown in the state until September 20.

“The current lockdown measures will remain in effect in the state until September 20 and a full lockdown will be observed on September 7, 11, and 12,” Ms. Banerjee said.

Statewide, there are a total of 1,50,772 cases, of which 1,21,046 have recovered, while 26,709 cases are active. Up to 3,017 have died from the virus, the Union Health Ministry said.
