Over the years, Mahendra Singh Dhoni has earned the title of ‘Thala’ (leader) from Chennai Super Kings fans for leading the Yellow Army to great victories and KL Rahul agrees.
If you are late to the party, KL Rahul is dreaming of a season with the bat, with over 500 runs at the 2020 IPL in progress and an orange cap on his kitty. Despite six losses in the tournament, Rahul led the Kings XI Punjab franchise from the front Sunday night scoring a spirited 77 when KXIP met the Mumbai Indians at the Dubai International Stadium.
The party itself has a written history. The Kings XI Punjab Vs Mumbai Indians game not only ended in a draw, but the Super Over also resulted in a draw.

While KXIP’s victory could be partially attributed to Chris Gayle’s six on the first ball of the second Super Over thrown by Trent Boult who cut the goal in half or Mayank Agarwal who saved about six on the limit ropes in the last Ball from MI’s second Super Over To give Keiron Pollard just a couple of runs, perhaps it was KXIP captain Rahul who shone the brightest at night to give his team 2 crucial points, keeping his team alive in the tournament.
The first Super Over was tied thanks to exceptional work with the captain’s own glove, which prevented Quinton de Kock from stealing the second and winning race.
The outing became the highlight of the night as KXIP went on to chase the MI 12 in just 4 deliveries in the second Super Over.

The KXIP captain’s response was met with applause.
Rahul was not the only one to win the internet after the impressive victory. KXIP’s official Twitter account responded to Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s 6-year post on the microblogging site leaving netizens divided.
Khan had asked, “Did Zinta’s team win kya?” in 2014 to which KXIP responded with a “Yes” on Sunday night.
