Former IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad are in action this weekend as they face off in Game 8 of the 2020 IPL. Both teams have not had the best start to the IPL as they suffered losses in their respective first games.
The Kolkata Knight Riders, despite making some radical changes to the IPL auction, succumbed to a heavy defeat against Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah earlier in the week.
As for the Sunrisers, they would be completely disappointed in their loss to RCB. Despite being well placed to win their inaugural meeting, SRH’s batting problems came to light when they collapsed. They will seek to amend that performance, although that is easier said than done.
The Knight Riders, with the likes of Andre Russell and Sunil Narine, were ranked by many as the early season favorites. Although they have some problems in the bowling department, ideally KKR would win against SRH, who has his own problems preparing for this match.
SRH’s batting unit largely revolves around the duo of David Warner and Jonny Bairstow, and they will need the likes of Priyam Garg and Vijay Shankar to step up as well if they want to outperform the long-awaited KKR unit.
KKR holds the head-to-head record advantage, with 10 wins in 17 games. They wouldn’t like Jonny Bairstow and SRH much though, given their previous game against the Orange Army at IPL 2019 ended in a nine-wicket loss.
All in all, we should be in for another entertaining match at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, with both sides looking to start their campaign with a vital victory on Saturday.

Launch report
A decent batting court awaits both sides on Saturday at Sheikh Zayed Stadium. As seen in the previous game, the pitch was a bit slower, although the batters were able to play their natural game.
The change of pace was a common theme during both games at this location at IPL 2020, and the spinners also drew a hint of spin in the middle. The power play phase would be critical to the luck of both sides, and scoring runs would be relatively easier against the new ball.
Both teams will be looking to chase by winning the toss given the impact the dew can have in the second inning, with 160-170 being a decent total at this spot.
