Actor-politician Khushbu Sundar on Wednesday he had an accident while on his way to participate in BJP’s ‘Vel Yatra’. Khushbu and his niece Raja Priya escaped unscathed. The mishap occurred after a tanker truck collided with his car near Melmaruvathur in Tamil Nadu and police are investigating whether there was any dirty act or whether the driver (of the container) was under any influence. The BJP leader continues her journey to Cuddalore.

“With your blessings and God’s grace, I am safe. I will continue my journey to Cuddalore to participate in VelYaatrai. The police are investigating the case. LordMurugan has saved us. You can see my husband’s confidence in him, ”Sundar tweeted, sharing photos of his damaged car.

“I ask the press to understand that a container hit me and not the other way around. My car was moving in the right lane and this container came out of nowhere and collided with me. The police are investigating and questioning the driver to rule out any dirty act, “he added.

The Tamil Nadu BJP maintains the yatra despite the state government forbidding it. The month-long rally, with visits to six abodes of Lord Muruga and modeled after the rath yatra, was scheduled to begin on November 6 from the Tiruttani temple, north of Tamil Nadu, and culminate at the temple from Tiruchendur, in the southern part of the state. The ‘Vel Yatra’ is seen as an attempt by the BJP to consolidate Hindu votes in the state.

The Tamil Nadu government had denied permission for the yatra in view of the Covid-19 situation and possible community tension, as feared in multiple complaints from opposition parties and two PILs filed in HC against the yatra.
