THIRUVANANTHAPURAM :
Kerala Tourism launched an online platform on Saturday to allow Keralites non-residents to reserve vehicles from tour operators to travel back to the state, ending the stalemate due to a national closure closed seven weeks ago to fight COVID-19.
Keralites stranded in other parts of the country may send inquiries to tour / transport operators through the department’s website www.keralatourism.org.
“The tour operator will obtain (by email) the NRK requirements and contact details. At the same time, NRK will obtain the inquiry number and relevant information about the preferred travel company. Mutual interaction can help to arrange the trip and the payment, “a statement released by the department said.
He also said that the traveler can request the necessary entry pass to travel to Kerala, using the vehicle details.
“This would help NRKs obtain vehicles for their trip to the state,” said Rani George, Kerala’s secretary of tourism.
The platform has already provided 151 registrations for this weekend and the registration of tour / transport operators continues.
The number of vehicles available for service is now 493, with a total seating capacity of 5,897.
