Kerala Finance Minister Thomas Isaac tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Sunday, according to the Finance Minister’s Office. This is the first case of a state government minister contracting the highly contagious virus.
The 67-year-old politician has urged his staff and others, who knew him in recent days, to isolate themselves and undergo home quarantine.
Last month, Isaac said the state will reject “lock, stock and barrel,” the Center’s proposal to borrow from states to cover GST’s revenue shortfall.
“Now that we fully understand the intentions of the Center on GST compensation, we have no choice but to reject them. No state with Aatmanirbhar can accept them. Enough is enough. No more transfer of states’ rights. GST compensation is our constitutional. correct, “Isaac had tweeted.
