Thiruvananthapuram:
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan lashed out Tuesday at BJP Head of State K Surendran for raising “unfounded accusations” against Kerala’s family in the LIFE Mission project “bribery” matter (including livelihoods and financial empowerment).
Vijayan, when asked about the allegations by the BJP chief, said that K Surendran has “lost his mental stability” and, without any sense of decency, has been raising accusations without any foundation.
“The party (BJP) should reflect on why it has kept a mentally defective person as president. Surendran has lost his mental stability. It is as if he could say anything. Shouldn’t there be a sense of basic decency? Says in what Are your statements based? Should one issue statements on a whim? ”asked Mr. Vijayan.
In a press meeting on Monday, Surendran alleged that investigating agencies should investigate and question Vijayan’s daughter and said that members of her family allegedly participated in obtaining bribes in the Life Mission project.
“Pinarayi Vijayan is not like Mr. Surendran. I am used to opposing corruption. That habit has helped me hold my head up whenever there are accusations against me.
When someone sees that government without corruption, such accusations will arise. Can my daughter, my son or my family be labeled as corrupt just because of accusations? Vijayan asked.
The Life Mission project was envisioned by the state government for the construction of free housing for the poor homeless in the state and so far at least 2.26 lakh of houses have been built and delivered to the homeless in the state under the framework of the project.
Surendran has alleged that the fire incident at the secretary of state was aimed at removing evidence against the prime minister’s office in the gold smuggling case.
However, the state government had refuted this accusation and said that none of the files were destroyed as the filing was under the electronic filing system for a long time.
Opposition parties have been alleging that the main defendant in the gold smuggling case was involved in obtaining commissions in connection with the Life Mission project.
