Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday visited the Singhu border, where thousands of farmers are protesting against the Center’s new agricultural laws, and verified the arrangements made for them by the city government.
The visit comes a day after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) extended its support to the ‘Bharat Bandh’ convened by farmers’ organizations on December 8.

Kejriwal was accompanied by his cabinet ministers and some party deputies during the short visit to the protest site on the Delhi-Haryana border.
“I checked the arrangements. We received a lot of pressure to allow the use of stadiums as temporary prisons, but we did not give permission and I think this helped the movement. Since then, the MLAs and our party ministers have been involved to ensure that farmers do so. do I will not face any discomfort, “he said.
“We are working as ‘sewadaars’. I have not come here as prime minister but as ‘sewadaar’ to serve farmers. It is our responsibility to support farmers,” he told reporters.
In the bandh called by the farmers on Tuesday, Chief Ninister said: “The AAP will participate in the national strike. I hope that the whole country will join it peacefully and I ask you to join and support the farmers.”
“I came to inspect the arrangements. The bathrooms are clean. The water does not reach all the points, so a motor and a pipe will be installed,” he said.
“The farmers said they are happy with the arrangements. Our MLA Jarnail Singh spent the night here to support them. All of our volunteers and party members are involved in serving the farmers,” Kejriwal added.
Thousands of farmers, mostly from Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, are protesting at various border points in Delhi against the new agricultural laws.
The Center’s offer to amend contentious laws failed to cut the ice with farmer groups during the fifth round of talks on Saturday. PTI
