NEW DELHI :
Arvind Kejriwal’s government in Delhi on Thursday launched an electronic token system for liquor sales in the national capital.

The Delhi government said the decision was made in view of the conglomeration in the liquor stores so that social distancing can be maintained. The government also issued a web link where people can go and buy the electronic token for the liquor.

On Monday, when the state liquor stores opened after a gap of more than 40 days, the government had to close them after people who gathered outside the points of sale did not follow the rules of social distancing. Even the Delhi police had to use slight force in some cases to disperse the rebel crowd.

The Delhi government also imposed a ‘special crown rate’ of 70% of the MRP on the sale of alcohol.
