The Kedarnath Shrine is covered in a layer of snow on Monday as the valley and surrounding hills received further episodes of snowfall, causing a significant drop in hill temperature levels.
The revered shrine is located in the Garhwal Himalayas near the Mandakini River, about a 22-kilometer uphill trek from Gaurikund.
The trees and houses were covered in sparkling white snow, making the place magnificent for tourists during winters. People visited Kedarnath in the Rudraprayag district in the middle of a light snowfall.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the forecast for Uttarakhand, the state will witness very light to light rain / snowfall in some places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts and in isolated locations in the districts of Tehri, Dehradun and Almora. .
Additionally, dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts of the state. Snowfall is likely to occur in isolated locations as high as 3,000 m and higher.
The chief ministers of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, Yogi Adityanath and Trivendra Singh Rawat had arrived at the Kedarnath temple to offer prayers and participate in the closing ceremony of the shrine portal in the early hours of Monday.
