Katihar MLA Tarkishore Prasad has been unanimously elected as the leader of the BJP legislative party in Bihar, party leader Sushil Kumar Modi said on Sunday.
“I have been given this responsibility and I will fulfill the duty to the best of my ability,” said Tarkishore Prasad after being elected leader of the BJP legislative party in Bihar.
“I cannot comment on it from now on,” said Tarkishore Prasad when asked about the deputy CM post in Bihar.
Modi, deputy minister in Nitish Kumar’s last cabinet and also leader of the BJP legislative party in Bihar ahead of the 2020 Assembly elections, said that no one can remove the party worker position and that he will also fulfill the responsibility given to him will give to him.
“Congratulations to Tarkishoreji on being unanimously elected as the leader of the BJP legislative party,” Modi tweeted in Hindi.
“The BJP and the Sangh Parivar gave me so much in 40 year political life that someone else might not have received it. I will also fulfill the responsibility assigned to me. No one can take the job away from the worker, ”he said in another tweet.
He also congratulated Bettiah MLA Renu Devi on being elected as the deputy leader of the BJP legislative party.
“Heartfelt congratulations to Bettiah Renu Devi, who comes from the Nonia community, who has been elected as the deputy leader of the BJP legislative party,” Modi tweeted.
Earlier in the day, an NDA meeting was held where Nitish Kumar was named leader, paving the way for his return as prime minister for the fourth consecutive term.
The NDA secured a majority in the recently concluded elections to the Bihar Assembly of 243 members by winning 125 seats.
