Karti Chidambaram disagrees on ‘giant committees’, Cong leaders strike back

Party leaders responded to the MP and several asked him why he had to raise these issues on social media.

Shortly after Congress announced a major modification to its Tamil Nadu unit ahead of this year’s Assembly elections, Member of Parliament (MP) and party leader Karti Chidambaram said on Saturday that those “giant committees” did not they had no purpose, as none of those named would. have some authority, which would mean “no responsibility.” In the organizational rejig, Karti Chidambaram has been appointed to the executive committee, the pradesh electoral committee and the electoral coordination committee.

On Saturday, Congress announced a major shakeup in the Tamil Nadu Congressional Committee (TNCC) and established key election-related panels that included Karti’s father, P Chidambaram, and former Union Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar, in them. The party has appointed 32 vice presidents, 57 general secretaries and 104 secretaries in the giant state unit. Ruby R. Manoharan has been named treasurer of the party’s state unit, according to a statement issued by the general secretary of Congress in charge of the KC Venugopal organization.

Tagging a tweet about the party’s organizational changes in Tamil Nadu, Karti Chidambaram tweeted: “These giant committees are useless. 32 VP, 57 GS, 104 Secretaries. None will have authority, which means there is no responsibility.”

He tagged Twitter users from Congress, TNCC, Venugopal, AICC Tamil Nadu in charge Dinesh Gundu Rao, party secretary general Priyanka Gandhi and former party chief Rahul Gandhi.

In response to his tweet, other congressional leaders and party supporters noted that the appointments were an acknowledgment of his hard work. In addition, they alleged that they were not included in the new designations due to their ‘father’, who investigates Karti’s lineage, which gave him an undeniable advantage within the party. Several others asked why the congressman had to raise these issues on social media instead of discussing it with his party in private.

The appointments come months before Assembly elections, which will likely take place in April or May. Congress is likely to contest the ballot box as part of the DMK-led opposition alliance to take on the ruling AIADMK coalition.
