Schools in Karnataka will reopen from January 1, 2021 for classes from the sixth onwards. Students in classes 6-9 will need to bring a written consent letter from their parents to attend classes. Students in class 10 to 12 will be required to attend their regular classes.
“The decision was made on Saturday after a meeting chaired by Prime Minister BS Yediyurappa in the presence of Health Minister K Sudhakar. The meeting was held in the context of the detailed report presented by the Karntaka health department technical advisory committee. The committee has given the necessary guidelines and the necessary suggestions. The committee’s report suggests that classes for students studying in classes 10 and 12 can start from January 1, ”said Education Minister Suresh Kumar.
“Students with symptoms of Covid-19 do not need to attend classes. It is not compulsory to attend Vidyagama classes (class 6 to 9). Only half-day school will be allowed with a maximum limit of 20 students in each class. The provision for the noon meal will not continue but meal kits will be delivered to the students’ homes, “he added.
