Later, referring to the night curfew and international passenger testing, Health Minister K Sudhakar said that the government had consulted the TAC for the past two days and concluded to impose a night curfew to avoid gatherings in large numbers outdoors for parties. weddings and new year’s party.
“A detailed POE will be issued later in the day,” he said.
On international passenger testing, Sudhakar said that to date some 2,500 people have traveled from the UK between November 25 and December 22 and all of them have been tracked.
“We have made it mandatory for all these passengers to be in mandatory quarantine for 28 days and the health department is closely monitoring them and their travel movements,” he said.
He said that all those international passengers who test positive for the virus, their samples will be sent to four identified laboratories in Bengaluru, including NIHMANS, IISc and NCBS, to perform genetic tests to identify if it is the new strain that has reached the state.
“The genetic test will be free and the person being tested will not be charged,” he said.
