Bangalore:
Two other Karnataka ministers, Basavaraj Bommai and K Gopalaiah, in Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa’s cabinet tested positive for coronavirus.
Karnataka Interior Minister Basavaraj Bommai tweeted today that he has contracted the virus.
“Our domestic helper at home was found yesterday infected with the coronavirus. So, I too was tested and tested positive for the virus,” he said.
Mr. Bommai said he was asymptomatic and healthy, but as a precaution he has isolated himself at home.
Earlier on Tuesday, Minister of Food and Civil Supplies K Gopalaiah said in a tweet: “As I have tested positive for coronavirus, I am going to be admitted to hospital on the advice of a doctor, although I have no symptoms of the disease.”
Both have asked those who were in contact with them to be examined and take the necessary precautionary measures.
Other ministers who were infected with the pathogen include the Minister of Forests, Anand Singh, the Minister of Tourism, CT Ravi, and the Minister of Agriculture, BC Patil.
As on Tuesday night, 4.75 lakhs of people were found to be infected with the virus. While 7,481 people have succumbed to the infection since the outbreak of the disease.
