Bangalore: On Tuesday, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa officially launched the helpline service for home delivery of essential items and groceries in a bid to ensure people remain indoors amid the coronavirus pandemic . The helpline will operate through calls and on WhatsApp. Customers can send their shopping list to 08061914960.
The prime minister said around 5,000 delivery agents will be cordoned off by various private agencies that will assist with door-to-door delivery. “We hope that with this initiative, minors will leave their homes. We urge people to stay home and avoid hitting the roads,” added Yediyurappa.
The service was the initiative of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagar Palike (BBMP). South Bangalore MP Tejasvi Surya presented the features of this platform to the Prime Minister, informing him how it has helped the residents of his constituency. The BBMP commissioner also shared a 9-step manual on how to place your order.
If you want to place an order on WhatsApp, follow these 9 steps:
Step 1: Save 08061914960 on your device.
Step 2: Message HI- to the number
Step 3: share your location / address
Step 4: You will be asked to follow the instructions: Type A for groceries and vegetables OR B for medications
Step 5: write your order items or send a photo of your shopping list
Step 6: after sending the list, your order will be placed
Step 7: you will receive an SMS confirming your order along with the transaction ID
Step 8: The delivery partner will deliver at the designated time
Step 9: Pay for the ordered items along with an additional delivery fee of 10 rupees.

Meanwhile, on Monday, the Jagan Mohan Reddy government agriculture department in Andhra Pradesh partnered with the food delivery company Swiggy to deliver fresh fruits and vegetables to people’s doorsteps during the shutdown.
