B Narayan Rao was admitted to Manipal Hospital on September 1 with a diagnosis of severe COVID-19 infection, said the hospital’s director, Dr. Manish Rai.

MLA B Congress Narayan Rao, 65, who was admitted to a private hospital after contracting COVID-19, passes away Thursday at a private hospital in Bangalore. He was in critical condition, the hospital had said Wednesday.

Rao, Bidar’s acting MLA, was admitted to Manipal Hospital on Sept. 1 with a diagnosis of severe COVID-19 infection, hospital director Dr. Manish Rai said.


“He was seriously ill with multi-organ failure on multiple supports, including the ventilator in the intensive care unit, under constant observation from our panel of expert physicians,” said Dr. Rai.

The Assembly session was briefly suspended after news of Rao’s death arrived.
