Karnataka CM political secretary NR Santosh tries to commit suicide | Bengaluru News

BENGALURU: NR Santosh, the political secretary of Prime Minister BS Yediyurappa, is said to have attempted suicide at his Dollars Colony residence in Bengaluru on Friday.
Santosh was found unconscious by members of his family at night in his reading room. He was rushed to the nearby MS Ramaiah hospital. While police said it was critical, the hospital did not respond to inquiries.
According to police sources, Santosh is suspected of having taken sleeping pills, the amount of which is unknown. The CM visited Santosh in the hospital later that night.
“I met him in the morning. We went for a walk. I have no idea why he did this. I hope he recovers,” Yediyurappa told reporters near the hospital.
A relative of Yediyurappa, Santosh’s political fortunes were going through a stormy phase as questions arose about his influence with the CM and his family. He was appointed political secretary of the CM in May of this year. He had played a key role in securing the downfall of the JD (S) congressional government last year.
