Aditya Alva, one of the main defendants in the Kannada movie drug case is Vivek Oberoi’s brother-in-law.
Police teams from the Central Crime Branch raided the residence of Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi in Mumbai after receiving a tip that one of the main defendants in the drug case they are investigating, Aditya Alva, is hid there.
Aditya, who is the son of the late Minister Jeevaraj Alva and Oberoi’s brother-in-law, has been on the run since he was accused of being part of the drug trade involving Kannada movie stars, merchants and party planners.
“Acting on the information that Aditya was hiding at his brother-in-law’s house in Mumbai, the CCB obtained a search warrant from the court. The search is still ongoing, ”said Joint Commissioner (Crime) Sandeep Patil.
The CCB is expected to question Mr. Oberoi and his family about Aditya’s whereabouts, sources said.
The search comes days after police interrogated Ricky Rai, the son of former social activist Muthappa Rai, who had become a gift from the underworld. At that time they had searched their apartment in Sadashivnagar and the family home in Bidadi because they believed that Mr. Aditya was hiding there. Mr. Ricky’s mobile phone was seized and he was detained for questioning.
Many of the defendants who have been arrested in connection with the drug case allegedly partied at a farm in Hebbal owned by Mr. Aditya on weekends where drugs were sold and used.
