After consulting with officials from the Department of Health and Family Welfare, the state government made a formal announcement to ban the setting off of firecrackers.

Firecracker makers are expected to oppose the government’s decision and are likely to meet with the Chief Minister to repeal the ban this festival season as they have already produced a large number of firecrackers.
