Kareema Begum, mother of AR Rahman dies in Chennai

Music composer AR Rahman lost his mother Kareema Begum. She was ill for quite some time and took her last breath in Chennai. AR Rahman took to Twitter and shared a photo of his mother to confirm the news. The image was not accompanied by any text.

WHAT DID AR RAHMAN SHARE?

AR Rahman shared a photo of mother Kareema Begum on Twitter and Instagram.

Condolences came as soon as the music teacher shared the photo. Director Mohan Raja wrote: “Our condolences sir, may your soul rest in peace (sic).”

A Twitter user shared Kareema Begum’s photo with Rahman and paid his last respects. “Rest in peace Kareema Begum. Thank you forever for giving ARRahman to this world and to the music #ARRahman #KareemaBegum #RIPKareemaBegum (sic)”.

AR Rahman was quite close to his mother. In an old interview, he had said that his mother is musically inclined and that she is much taller than him spiritually. In fact, it was his mother who encouraged him to pursue music.

On the work front, AR Rahman composed music for all eight Dil Bechara songs by Mukesh Chhabra. The composer paid a musical tribute to Sushant Singh Rajput before the premiere of the film. The next films that will feature his music are Atrangi Re, Mimi, Cobra and 99 Songs.
