When Karan Johar broke his silence with a statement about names linked to his production house that were under the Office of Narcotics Control scanner, Manjinder Singh Sirsa confronted the filmmaker once more. Shiromani leader Akali Dal, who had complained against the former in a 2019 video, reminded him that it was not the ‘star-struck’ Mumbai police that were investigating this case. He said that Johar’s ‘false defense’ was not going to work with the Office of Narcotics Control.

It was after this news broke that Karan Johar posted her clarification on Twitter. He spoke about ‘misleading information’, ‘defamatory and malicious statements’ and claimed that he had never used drugs or promoted the use of such substances. He sought “restraint” from the media when he clarified that two people who came under the NCB’s radar on Friday, Kshitij Prasad and Anubhav Chopra, were only briefly associated with the banner in the past.

On Friday, Kshitij Prasad, executive producer and director, was detained when raids on his Versova residence led to the seizure of marijuana and weed. Anubhav Chopra was questioned on Friday and is likely to be questioned on Saturday as well.
Sirsa, who had filed a complaint with Mumbai police over the video from the 2019 party alleging drug use, but did not move forward. She recently said that Karan Johar will now be doing ‘Koffee with NCB’, referring to the latter’s chat show, after the agency took up her complaint. One of the stars to be seen in the video is Deepika Padukone, who will be questioned by NCB on Saturday for her alleged chats in search of drugs.
