The development comes after criticism of the lawsuit made by the leader of Shiv Sena.
“Karachi Bakery and Karachi Sweets have been in Mumbai for the past 60 years. They have nothing to do with Pakistan. There is no point asking them to change their names now,” Sanjay Raut said in a tweet.
He further added that the demand to change his name is not Shiv Sena’s official position.

In a video that has gone viral on social media platforms, Shiv Sena’s leader Nitin Nandgaonkar was seen asking the owner of a Bandra sweet shop called Karachi Sweets to change his name to something in Marathi.
Nandgaonkar was seen saying that he hates the word ‘Karachi’ because of his association with Pakistan.
“You can name the shop however you want. You can name your ancestors, but not Karachi,” Nandgaonkar said when the owner says the name has been in the family because his ancestors were from Karachi.
