Kapil Dev Undergoes Emergency Coronary Angioplasty After Suffering From Chest Pain

Kapil Dev, the former World Cup winning captain from India, underwent coronary angioplasty surgery after being admitted to Fortis Hospital in New Delhi on Thursday night due to chest pain.

The 61-year-old is still considered one of the best all-rounders the cricket world has produced. He led India to their first World Cup win in 1983.

“Mr. Kapil Dev arrived at the Fortis Escorts Heart Institute (Okhla Road) emergency department at 1:00 am on October 23 with a complaint of chest pain. He was evaluated and an emergency coronary angioplasty was performed in between. at night, ”says a statement from the hospital.

“Currently, he is admitted to the ICU and under the close supervision of Dr. Atul Mathur and his team. Kapil Dev is stable now and is expected to be discharged in a couple of days. “

The president of the Indian Cricketers Association (ICA), Ashok Malhotra, a friend of Kapil, said PTI that the iconic cricketer is doing well.

Kapil, who has played 131 events and 225 ODI, inspired India to an unforgettable victory at the World Cup in 1983, where they defeated the mighty West Indies in the final at the Lord’s.

Kapil is the only player in history to claim more than 400 wickets (434) and accumulate more than 5000 races in Trials. He was inducted into the International Cricket Council Hall of Fame in 2010.
