Kapil Dev, who underwent emergency angioplasty after suffering chest pain on Thursday, was released from Delhi hospital in three days.

India’s first World Cup winning captain complained of chest pain on Thursday, after which he was taken to the emergency department at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute. He was reported to be stable after Thursday’s emergency angioplasty and was released from the hospital on Sunday.

“Sir. Kapil Dev was discharged this afternoon. He is fine and will soon be able to resume his usual daily activity. He will be under regular follow-up consultation with Dr. Atul Mathur,” the hospital said in a statement.

Former Indian cricketer Chetan Sharma also shared photos of Kapil in the hospital with his daughter and Dr. Atul Mathur, who performed angioplasty, which is a procedure to open blocked arteries and restore normal blood flow to the heart.

After receiving wishes from fans, former teammates and celebrities across the country, Kapil Dev posted a story on Instagram, saying, “Thank you all for all the love and concern. I am overwhelmed with good wishes and well on my way to recovery. “

The 61-year-old legendary off-roader played 131 tests and 225 ODIs for India. He remains the only player in cricket history to claim more than 400 wickets (434) and accumulate more than 5000 races in Trials.

He also served as the national coach of India from 1999 to 2000. Kapil was inducted into the International Cricket Council Hall of Fame in 2010.
