Kapil Dev is discharged from Delhi hospital after angioplasty


Veteran cricketer Kapil Dev was released from the hospital Sunday, two days after undergoing angioplasty following a heart attack.

The 61-year-old World Cup-winning captain complained of chest pain on Thursday, after which he was taken to the emergency department at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute.

He is fine now.

“Mr. Kapil Dev was discharged this afternoon. He is fine and will soon be able to resume his usual daily activities. He will be in regular follow-up consultation with Dr. Atul Mathur,” the hospital said in a statement, the Press Trust reported. from India.

Angioplasty is a procedure to open blocked arteries and restore normal blood flow to the heart.

After his admission, Kapil’s condition was assessed and Dr. Mathur, who is the chair of the cardiology department at the Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, performed an emergency coronary angioplasty.

The legendary off-roader received a wish for a speedy recovery from many on social media, including the current captain of India, Virat Kohli, and the great Sachin Tendulkar, among others.

Kapil, one of the best cricketers in India, played 131 tests and 225 ODI.

He remains the only player in cricket history to claim more than 400 wickets (434) and accumulate more than 5000 races in Trials.

He also served as the national coach of India between 1999 and 2000.

Kapil was inducted into the International Cricket Council Hall of Fame in 2010.

The 1983 world cup winning captain recently made the news after investing an undisclosed amount in Harmonizer India, a technology company focused on the energy sector.

From the supermarket to the taxi aggregation, reports suggest that Kapil Dev has been investing in different startups since 2015.

In 2018, Phantom Films announced the release of 83, a film based on the 1983 World Cup with Ranveer Singh playing the role of Kapil Dev under the direction of Kabir Khan.
