Mumbai:
Two complaints have been filed against actor Kangana Ranaut for allegedly using foul language against Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, police said Thursday night.
According to one of the complainants, Ms. Ranaut, in a video circulated on social media on September 9, used “inflammatory and derogatory words” against Mr. Thackeray and, in doing so, “tried to demean and challenge the dignity “of the Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
Ms. Ranaut, who is fighting the demolition of her Mumbai office at the Bombay High Court, attacked Mr. Thackeray in a video posted on Wednesday, in which she addressed him as “you” (you).
“Uddhav Thackeray, tujhe kya lagta hai? (What do you think?) That you collaborated with the film mafia, demolished my house and they took revenge on me? My house was demolished today, your arrogance will collapse tomorrow, ”said the actor.
“This is the wheel of time. Remember, it never stays the same,” said Ms Ranaut, 33, hours after the Mumbai civic body began to demolish what it claimed were illegal alterations to the actor’s office at the Pali Hills area of town.
The demolition was stopped yesterday by the Superior Court after the actor presented a petition challenging the maneuver of the civic entity. The court said that “prima facie (the demolition) does not appear to be in good faith.”
Ms. Ranaut has claimed that she is under attack by the Maharashtra government, which runs the Mumbai municipal corporation, and with whom she is in the midst of a rapidly escalating political dispute.
This afternoon, the Bombay High Court adjourned its hearing. The case will now be heard on September 22.
Ms. Ranaut’s fight with the ruler Shiv Sena began over comments on the Sushant Singh Rajput case that compared Mumbai to Pakistani-occupied Kashmir, and additional comments that she no longer felt safe in Mumbai.
One of the two complaints filed today against the actress also claimed that by comparing “the alleged incident (that) happened against her with the experts in Kashmir,” she had attempted to create discord against a specific community.
The Seine lashed out at Mumbai comparisons to PoK; Senior leader Sanjay Raut responded with an insult and another suggested that Ms. Ranaut be slapped and face a case of sedition.
Earlier this week, Thackeray hit Ms Ranaut, though without naming the actor. Some people do not feel gratitude for the city where they earn a living, said the Chief Minister.
The center’s decision to provide Ms. Ranaut with Y-Plus level CRPF security has added fuel to the fire; Interior Ministry sources said the decision came after a perception of “renewed threat” to the actor.
Ms. Ranaut, who has frequently expressed her support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP, is now the first actor to receive security at this level; Amit Shah and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh are only two notches above her.
