Kangana Ranaut’s petition against the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation to demolish parts of his bungalow will be heard by the Bombay High Court as of Friday afternoon, it ruled Thursday. The actor had sued the municipal corporation and its officials, claiming Rs 2 crore in compensation for the demolition which, according to him, was the result of malice and not the implementation of the civic body’s rules.
Shiv Sena legislator and chief spokesperson Sanjay Raut, and Bhagyawant Late of the BMC, the civic body designated official for the H-West district, who were made parties to the case as instructed by the court, were you have said to submit your answer for when your turn comes. the hearings. Ranaut’s attorney has also been told to make corrections to the petition.
Sanjay Raut and Bhagyawant Late had applied to the court for more time. The bank contrasted the request for more time with the rush with which they had gone ahead to demolish parts of the actor’s building in the luxurious Bandra area of Mumbai. She had bought the building for Rs 200 crore in 2017. It houses the office of Manikarnika Films Private Limited.
“We cannot leave the demolished house as it is. He needs more time here, but otherwise he is fast, ”observed the court composed of Judges SJ Kathawalla and RI Chagla.
A demolition team from the Shiv Sena-controlled BMC had demolished parts of an office owned by Kangana Ranaut on September 9 that they claimed had been built in violation of the rules. Ranaut had rushed to the superior court to seek redress, but by the time the court completed its hearing and suspended the demolition, the damage was done.
The court then noted that the manner in which the BMC rushed to demolish parts of the building within 24 hours of notification did not “appear to be in good faith (good faith) and smells of malafide (dishonest intentions).”
The demolition also escalated a war of words between Ranaut and the leaders of the Sena-led Maharashtra government.
In her petition, Kangana Ranaut has asked the judges to rule on her claim of 2 million rupees as compensation. He said that the BMC had damaged almost 40% of his bungalow and other personal property.
He has also stressed that the BMC could not prove his allegations because he had not attached any photographs, which should have been taken when the designated officer inspected Ranaut’s property on September 7. He said this pointed to a pushy action by BMC.
The actress has said that the BMC demolished her building as soon as the 24-hour window expired, but gave designer Manish Malhotra, who received a notice the same day, seven days to respond.
The clash between Kangana Ranaut and the Maharashtra government is believed to be linked to their criticism of the Mumbai police and the state’s handling of investigations into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput in June. The controversy took on a broader political tone after Congress accused her of pursuing the political agenda of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
