Shimla: On Wednesday, when the BMC demolished the ‘illegal alterations’ at Kangana Ranaut’s office in Mumbai, the Bollywood actress’ mother Asha Ranaut was reported to have attacked Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray in a tweet. However, it has now come to light that the Twitter identifier is false and is not handled by Kangana’s mother.
The Mumbai High Court had suspended the demolition process initiated by the Shiv Sena-ruled BMC for illegal construction at the Kangana office on Wednesday afternoon. Kangana had filed a petition earlier that day contesting BMC’s notice.
Judge SJ Kathawalla, while listening to the guilty plea, asked the BMC how he entered the premises in the absence of the owner. The BMC was asked to provide an affidavit in response to the petition. During the hearing the day after Thursday, the court suspended the demolition process until September 22.
The 33-year-old actor arrived in Mumbai from Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday.
Kangana responded to the BMC, saying that the civic body should focus on the poor state of the city’s roads rather than target his office.
“BMC, these are streets of Mumbai and the only thing that worries you is the DEMOLITION of the house of an actress who is exposing the mafia. KUDOS for you … !! #DeathOfDemocracy,” Kangana tweeted while posting a photo of a Mumbai road riddled with several potholes.
She had previously posted on Twitter: “There is no illegal construction in my house, also the government has banned any demolition in COVID until September 30, Bollywood look now this is what fascism looks like.”
Meanwhile, BJP MLA Ashish Shelar sided with Kangana and accused the Maharashtra government led by Uddhav Thackeray of playing vendetta politics.
BJP MP Subramanian Swamy also spoke in support of the actress, tweeting: “Tell Kangana to keep the faith. We are with her in this fight.”
Correction: An earlier version of this story, titled “Kangana’s mother responds to Uddhav, says ‘you have not crushed my daughter’s office but Bal Thackeray’s soul,'” had incorrectly attributed the comments to the actress’s mother. Bollywood. The story was based on a post by a Twitter user that turned out to be false. This story has been updated to reflect the latest events. The mistake is regretted.
