A local court in the Tumakuru district of Karnataka on Friday ordered police to hire Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut for her tweet allegedly directed at farmers protesting recently passed farm laws, according to a report.
The Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) court ordered the inspector of the Kyathasandra police station to register an FIR against Ranaut based on a complaint from lawyer L Ramesh Naik, according to the PTI news agency. The court said Naik had filed a request for an investigation under section 156 (3) of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC). “The office is hereby ordered to send intimidation to the circle police inspector of the Kyathasandra police station together with (a) photostatic copy of the complaint for the report,” the court said, according to PTI.
Naik, who hails from Kyathasandra, said the court had ordered the jurisdictional police station to register an FIR and inquire into his criminal case against the actor.
“The people spreading misinformation and rumors about CAA that caused riots are the same people who are now spreading misinformation about the Farmers Bill and causing terror in the nation, they are terrorists. You know very well what I said, but you just like to spread misinformation, ”Ranaut tweeted on September 21 from his Twitter account @KanganaTeam. Naik said Ranaut’s tweet had hurt him and led him to file a case against her.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a series of tweets, assured farmers that the Minimum Support Price (MSP) and government procurement of agricultural products will continue after Rajya Sabha passes the bills. The actor had picked up one of PM’s tweets, describing the protesters as “the same terrorists who indulged in bloodshed although no compatriot lost their citizenship due to the CAA.”
She had clarified that she did not call the farmers terrorists and was challenging anyone to prove it. “Just as Lord Krishna has the Narayani Army, similarly Pappu has his Champu army that only knows how to fight based on hearsay. This is my original tweet, if anyone can prove I called the terrorist farmers, I will apologize and leave Twitter forever, ”he tweeted in Hindi later.
According to Live Law, Naik in her plea alleged that Ranaut’s tweet has a clear intention to harm people who oppose agricultural laws, “giving senseless provocation with the intention of causing riots and promoting the culture of non-violence. in the young minds of society. “
“…. this post on the defendant’s Twitter account posted by her may lead to a collision between people from different groups who believe in different ideologies. It seems that the government authorities have turned a blind eye to the same and do not have established measures or norms and guidelines to control and regulate them. Just by reading all this content, it is more than evident that the government is less concerned and, as usual, expects some dangerous consequences to happen before taking the appropriate measures, “he said, according to Bar and Bench.
