New Delhi:
Actress Kangana Ranaut, who won a major victory last week against the Mumbai civic body in the Bombay High Court, today filed a petition with the Supreme Court regarding the demolition of her office. If the BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) challenges last week’s Superior Court order in the superior court, “no decision should be made” without hearing their version, the 33-year-old actor has urged the superior court.
On Friday, the Bombay High Court had canceled the BMC’s notice of the demolition of Ms. Ranaut’s office at a bungalow on Mumbai’s Pali Hill, calling it “nothing but legal malice.” The Superior Court also said that Ms. Ranaut will be compensated for the damages.
The civic body demolished part of the office on 9 September for “illegal construction” amid a heated political dispute between the “Queen” actor and the ruling Shiv Sena government that began after the death of actor Sushant Singh. Rajput on June 14, and then it became ugly.
At the time, Ms Ranaut had criticized Maharashtra’s ruler Shiv Sena, who controls the BMC, for ordering the demolition as revenge for his comments.
In September, the Superior Court had suspended the civic body’s action, noting that the demolition occurred “when she is out of state, ordering her to respond within 24 hours, and not granting her more time, despite the written request. .. “.
The 33-year-old woman had also applied for Rs 2 million compensation from the municipal agency for what she called an “illegal” demolition.
Last week, the Superior Court said it was appointing an appraiser who would hear the petition and the civic body on the money damages they caused him. “The appraiser will approve before March 2021 the corresponding orders on compensation,” the court said.
Welcoming the court’s decision, Ms Ranaut tweeted: “When an individual opposes the government and wins, it is not the victory of the individual but the victory of democracy. Thanks to everyone who gave me courage and thanks to the They laughed at my dreams. It’s just because you play a villain so that I can be a hero. “
However, the High Court told Ms. Ranaut to show restraint in “airing” her comments. “The petitioner must show restraint when airing opinions about the government,” the court warned the actor. “We do not agree with what he has said,” the bank said, warning Shiv Sena’s leader Sanjay Raut.
