Released Tuesday night after spending seven months in jail, Dr. Kafeel Khan claimed that the Uttar Pradesh government, led by Yogi Adityanath, was indulging in ‘Baal hatth‘(childish stubbornness) instead of observing’ Raj Dharma ‘. He also said the state could incriminate him in another case now that he is out of jail.
“In Ramayana, Maharshi Valmiki had said that the Raja (king) should perform for ‘Raj Dharma.’ In UP, the ‘Raja’ is not doing ‘Raj Dharma’ but is doing ‘Baal Hatth’ (being stubborn as a child), ”PTI quoted Khan.
the On Tuesday, the Allahabad High Court overturned the arrest of Dr. Kafeel Khan under the National Security Act (NSA) and ordered the UP government to release him “immediately.” The court ruled that Khan’s speech to Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) students during protests against the CAA last December was “a call for national integrity and unity,” and not “any effort to promote hatred. or violence. “
In its order, the court described the arrest warrant under the NSA as “bad” and based on “selective reading and selective mentioning of some sentences of the speech ignoring its true intention.” The court also noted the two-month gap between the speech and the NSA post, and that Khan was not given an order to extend the detention.

Khan has been held in Mathura District Jail since January for allegedly delivering the “provocative speech”. He was charged under the NSA on February 13, and his detention was extended twice.
“I will always be grateful to all my supporters, who raised their voices for my release. The administration was not ready for release, but due to people’s prayers (duaa), I was released, ”he said after his release.
He also claimed that he and his family had to face many difficulties as the state government “persecuted” him due to the oxygen problem at BRD Medical College. Khan said he is preparing to help people affected by the floods in Bihar and Assam now.
Khan made headlines for the first time after the 2017 tragedy at the Baba Raghav Das Medical College (BRD) in Gorakhpur, where several children died due to a lack of oxygen cylinders. While he was hailed as a children’s savior for fixing emergency oxygen cylinders, he later faced action alongside nine other doctors and hospital staff for irregularities in the line of duty. All were released on bail.
