The captain of India, Virat Kohli, is considered one of the best players in cricket today. Kohli has scored 70 hundred internationals so far in his career, and has already broken several records in all three formats of the game. Kohli is the top run scorer in T20I, and he’s also one of the most successful captains in the game right now.
But Kohli is often confronted with comparisons of former Australia captain Steve Smith, New Zealand captain Kane Williamson and England captain Joe Root, who together are considered “The Big Four” of cricket.
“You’re looking at three of the best players (the game has seen,” Root said in an interaction with The Analyst’s Virtual Cricket Club.
“They are three brilliant people to watch play and learn. I’m not sure I put myself in their group, to be honest, “he added.
Additionally, Root considered Kohli the most complete player of the three: Virat, Steve, and Kane.
“Virat is probably the most complete player of the three in all formats. His ability to chase things in the limited overs format and to keep up as well as he does so often and not be left out at the end is extraordinary, “said Root.
“He has a very good game in all aspects, but you wouldn’t say he’s weaker against spin or pace.”
Root, meanwhile, has high expectations of Buttler, England’s stalwart, who has yet to rise to the same level in test cricket.
The RCB led by Kohli will face CSK on Sunday at IPL 2020.
