Joe Biden defeated Donald Trump in the presidential election on Saturday to become the 46th president of the United States as the incumbent was quick to reject the result saying “the election is far from over” and threatened further legal challenges.
The Associated Press declared Joe Biden the winner of a grueling campaign for the US presidency four days after the US elections were held. “It will lead a polarized nation through a historic collision of health, economic and social crises,” said AP.

CNN and NBC News were among the television networks that called for the race in his favor, minutes after projecting that he had won the key state of Pennsylvania, secured his 20 electoral votes and crossed the 270 mark needed to win the presidency.
Biden tweeted his gratitude for being elected president. “America, it is an honor that you have chosen me to lead our great country. The work ahead will be hard, but I promise you this: I will be a president for all Americans, whether they vote for me or not. I will keep the faith you have placed in me, ”he tweeted.
Kamala Harris, of Indian origin, becomes the first black woman elected as vice president of the United States
With this victory, Kamala Harris made history as the first woman, the first African American, and the first Asian American vice president of America. She is also expected to be the candidate for the Democratic nomination in 2024.
Even though Biden failed to trade key states of Florida, Texas and Iowa, he won the states of Michigan and Wisconsin on the battlefield, tightening his grip on the top post.
The Democrats’ victory comes amid claims of a rigged election by the Republican Party led by Donald Trump. Trump, refusing to admit defeat, said Joe Biden “was quick to pose as the winner” after television networks declared the Democrat victory.
“We all know why Joe Biden is rushing to pose as the winner, and why his media allies are trying to help him – they don’t want the truth exposed,” Trump said. “The simple fact is that this election is far from over,” he added.
“Joe Biden should not unfairly claim the position of president. I could also make that claim. The legal proceedings are just beginning! “Trump had tweeted earlier that day.” I won this election by a lot! “He said in another tweet a few hours before he lost the White House. The tweet has been flagged by Twitter and labeled” misleading. “
