Pathan was in charge of the SOG team that accompanied the 21 Rashtriya rifles and the district police when the operation to search for the terrorists was launched. “It was part of the original team that went to evacuate civilian inmates at the destination house who were taken hostage by the hidden terrorists,” said a statement from the Jammu and Kashmir police.
“The team was able to rescue inmates safely, but was fired upon by terrorists during the evacuation process and was martyred,” the statement said.
