J&K DDC 2020 Election Results Live Updates: After a hand-to-hand fight for some time, the Gupkar Alliance is ahead of the BJP with an advantage that now widens to 81 seats against 48 for the BJP. Congress is currently in the lead at 21, while independent candidates are ahead in more than constituencies in the District Development Council elections. Until some time ago, the BJP was ahead of the Gupkar Alliance. However, as the count progressed, the Gupkar Alliance expanded their lead against the saffron party. The counting of votes for 280 DDC seats is currently underway in 20 J&K districts.

The voting took place in eight phases, beginning on November 28 and ending on December 19 with about 51 percent of the voters. Among the key parties in the contest are the BJP, Congress, and the Gupkar Alliance, an alliance formed by regional political parties to fight for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status. Among the 280 seats, 140 electoral districts are in the Jammu Division and 140 in the Kashmir Division.
